Pele Plantations is a small family business located on the Big Island of Hawaii.
Our History
Pele Plantations was founded in 1989. We became the second family to own the business when we took over in 2015. Initially, the whole business was run from an organic coffee farm in Honaunau, in the heart of the Kona region. We did all of our roasting there, offered private farms tours, and shipped all of our orders right from the farm.
The small amount of coffee we grew on our farm was never enough to satisfy our customers. Pele Plantations has been sourcing its beans from several carefully selected Kona estates since it opened, allowing us to offer our customers the best selection of the highest-quality, single-estate, 100% organic – and gently treated non-organic – Kona coffee.
New Location
This year, we moved from the farm to a new storefront in Waimea, about 60 miles north of the farm. We have a retail shop in front with limited hours (also open by appointment). But we spend most of our time in the back room where we are roasting orders for our online customers and coffee club members. We love meeting customers in person, and always look forward to longtime customers and coffee club members coming to visit!
Freshness and Flavor
Freshness is paramount for us. As soon as the cherry is picked from one of our farms, the seeds are pulped, soaked and sun dried. Then the parchment is aged, and later milled in small batches when we need it.
When we receive your order, we take out some freshly milled green beans, freshly roast them right here on site, and ship them within 24 hours. That’s why the quality and freshness – and the taste – of our 100% Kona Coffee is unsurpassed.
Customer Service
Every single order is received, roasted and shipped by our family. We handle all customer service inquiries personally, and work hard to make sure that each customer enjoys their experience with our company and our coffee.
We love bringing the best of Kona to our customers. Taste it for yourself… and treat yourself to a cup of the freshest, most delicious coffee on the planet.
