Kumu

$55.00

One of the meanings of KUMU (pronounced koo-moo) is purpose. We think it’s a great name for this coffee, whose flavor is rich, strong and unmistakeable. You’ll be amazed by its smoothness, which can only be found in 100% pure Kona coffee.

We ship freshly roasted whole beans for optimal flavor and freshness.

Five pound orders may be shipped as one bulk bag or five one pound bags, depending on availability.

TASTING NOTES
“This coffee’s roasted aroma is as inviting as the flavor—rich, robust, and satiny smooth, with notes of cocoa powder, warm spice and molasses.”

Coffee Origin

Coffee Farm in Kona, Hawai‘i

ABOUT THE ESTATE

When this farm was purchased in 1972, it had to be recovered from the overgrown jungle that covered it. The owner says his secret is that he uses mulches and fertilizers – including crushed macadamia shells – to keep moisture in the a‘a (volcanic rock) dirt. He also believes that Honaunau provides the perfect conditions for coffee: ideal altitude, volcanic soil, good drainage, and the “right” amount of rain and cloud cover each day. A typical annual crop is about 5,000 lbs of roasted Kona coffee.

Awards: Competing against 43 other coffee estates, this coffee won First Place at the Gevalia contest the one and only time it was entered.
